SUMAJ PACHAMAMA
La Charo and dancers from the Teatro Colón
Created and directed by Matías Santos.
The unmistakable voice of La Charo guides us on an introspective journey towards the origin of life and of ourselves, alongside prominent figures from the emblematic Teatro Colón in Buenos Aires.
Origin
Sumaj Pachamama (Beautiful Mother Earth) emerges from current times, in which women have taken on a more prominent role in our society. A play where we wish to represent all the women of Argentina through the mythical figure of Mother Earth (Pachamama), evoking our ancestral voices in native languages, trying to vindicate feminine values, their atavistic struggles and their tireless searches from love.

LA CHARO
Voice and Musical Repertoire
A woman of Guaraní blood. Singer-songwriter, Compiler, Actress, Journalist and Cultural Manager. Distinguished for her musical work researching the songs of the native peoples of northern Argentina.

With a self-taught musical background, she easily approaches the folkloric instruments of her region: she plays the charango, the Venezuelan cuatro and the bombo legüero live. Her musical projects are Tonolec and La Charo.
For two decades Charo Bogarín has focused her attention on the songs of indigenous women, awakening her native DNA, reconnecting with her Guaraní blood and incorporating the timbric nuances of the native women into the texture of her voice.
She is a disseminator of ancestral songs in the Qom, Guaraní and Quechua languages such as Sumaj Pachamama, which means “Beautiful Earth”.
